Taekwondo
You've got long legs and you want to use them. Taekwondo is your sport.
Why TKD fits you
Taekwondo is a Korean striking art built around kicks — including the spinning, jumping, and head kicks you'll see at the Olympics. It rewards flexibility, length, and explosive hip movement. Your answers fit the TKD athlete: you're long-limbed or you want to be, you like high-flying technique, and you want something structured the whole family can do. Some schools focus on Olympic-style sport sparring, others on traditional forms — visit both styles before picking.
What to expect in your first class
Expect a structured warm-up — stretching, kicks on the line, basic footwork — followed by forms (poomsae) and pad work. Some schools do light controlled sparring once you've earned a few belt promotions. You'll wear a dobok (the uniform), and you'll quickly find out which hip is tighter than the other.
What it'll cost
$90–$160/month at most schools, with kid and family rates common.
