Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
You want it all — the takedown, the punch, the choke. MMA's your sandbox.
Why MMA fits you
MMA blends striking, wrestling, and submission grappling — and you'll train all three. It's the most demanding path because you're learning three sports at once, but it's also the most complete. Your answers point to a real fighter mindset: you can take contact, you can train hard, you want depth, and you respect that the best MMA fighters are excellent at every range. Most coaches recommend building a base in one discipline first (often Muay Thai or BJJ) and blending after 6–12 months.
What to expect in your first class
An entry-level MMA class is usually structured around one phase of fighting — say, takedown defense, or guard recovery. You'll drill techniques in MMA gloves (4-oz, not boxing gloves) and a rash guard or shorts. Expect more conditioning than a pure-striking class and harder partner work than a pure-grappling class. Most gyms separate beginner and competitor tracks; ask which one you're walking into.
What it'll cost
$150–$250/month for a real MMA gym with all classes included. Cheaper if you specialize, more if you train at a top camp.
